picture of Cock and LionNestling parallel to Oxford Street, this pleasant little place offers refuge from the horrors of consumerism lurking just down the road, and a lovely pint to be getting on with. There are three beers on usually, with one of those a guest. The pub has regular sports coverage, though thankfully it never seems to be too packed. There can be outside seating when the rain stops too. The wide range of food on offer is proper pub food, and makes a nice change from the usual fish, chips, and not a lot else; the prices aren't too frightening, although the kitchen or dumbwaiter struggles to cope at peak times. If pool is your thing, the upstairs sports room has a table. The staff know what they're doing, and how to pull a pint, but will leave you in peace, without stealing your still half-full glass away from the table as soon as you put it down, for the want of something better to do.
