Novelty Goth pubs are mercifully thin on the ground. The Marlborough Head is a massive pub decked out with caskets, potions and other horror jumble. The bar staff wear Nigel Tufnell-style skeletal T-shirts, serving 'devilish' cocktails over a rumble of tepid dance music. This sort of thing clearly appeals to some because the place was packed on our Friday night visit. As a venue for the afterwork crowd to get hammered, it does a job, but more discerning drinkers will be better off elsewhere.
