picture of The CrownFairly recently refurbished, The Crown is a rather pleasant gastropub type affair on the Blackfriars Road heading towards Elephant and Castle. All romantic and candle lit inside, the lighting is so dim from the outside it looks closed at night, you could easily miss it. Maybe this is why it's never particularly crowded and it feels like the sort of place you might enjoy with a friend or two for a quiet drink and a meal. The food deals are pretty good with offers on during the week - and we liked the range of options. Very good wine list and the one bitter is good (Abbott), on the whole it's quite a good effort. Maybe a three pint rating is pushing things a bit but we feel a two would be unfair and we're also told the function room serves it's purpose well.
