picture of Golden LionA roomy place that incorporates a separate buffet bar area and rear outdoor terrace, the Golden Lion is a reasonable, if somewhat featureless, pub. The interior has an attractive ceiling that seems to be the only original feature intact from previous refurbishments; faux-antique ephemera and modern wood-and-glass partitions fail to convince. Directors is available on tap alongside a commonplace range of beers behind the bar. The Golden Lion is, at least, a clean and fairly friendly place for a few jars. Given the paucity of decent boozers in this area, it is possibly your best bet.
