One of the bars/restaurants that have sprung up in the old West India Quay warehouses just north of Canary Wharf. Exploiting the waterside location and the space in front of the warehouse, this Bar 38 has a little more to recommend it than most of the others - the terrace is great when the weather's nice, but then everyone else has the same idea. The area has been in many a pop video and TV ad recently so you may experience a sense of deja vu, when you see it. For those of you new to Bar 38, it's a chain of bars run by S&N piggybacking recent on the bar boom. It's got a bit of trendy interior, with even trendier bogs, but despite it's high cost, high status look and location, it doesn't manage to throw off it's laddish image (mainly because of the clientele and the bouncers on the door. The service was pretty iffy last time we were there and when it's busy, you could get very thirsty. Good when it's quiet and the weather's nice, lairy when it's busy.
