picture of The Dacre ArmsThe Dacre Arms comes close to defining the classic neighbourhood local. It's a small, snug place with lots of pictures and ephemera around the walls. Unusually for such a small pub, there are regular guest beers on tap (usually three) and a good range of bottled beers. The atmosphere always seems relaxed, friendly and polite; it's a pub where conversation definitely takes priority. A small TV is turned on for sports events, but with the volume muted - an excellent idea in our book. The Dacre Arms might be a little out of the way, but it's all the better for that.
