how to find it:

Monument: leave the station by the Gracechurch Street exit and walk up Gracechurch Street for a couple of minutes. Ship Tavern Passage is on your right. Bank: leave by Lombard Street exit, walk up Lombard Street to the junction with Gracechurch Street, turn right, walk down a bit and it's on your left.

picture of The Swan TavernA solid Fuller's pub, this is the sort of miniature pub that would fit a few times over into a Wetherspoons bank conversion. Give it a look if you fancy a change from large-scale City bars. Sure, the narrow bar becomes pretty impossible to navigate if more than a few suits start to hold court. If so, head upstairs to the confines of a slightly larger bar, the presence of which seemed to have passed by the punters we saw outside in the inclement weather with their pints.
