The 'price watch' posters in the windows and all round this gloomy drink-tank say it all. You can pay 50 less for many popular drinks than named nearby bars - and on this visit Directors' was on offer at 99p. It should be better. Clean, open lines but a grubby air and an oppressively low ceiling and cellar-like lighting mark the main drinking area which you have to pass through to the stepped down and lighter bar and eating section. A decent and varying range of beers are on offer on draft and the staff are pleasant enough if privately wondering how the hell they get out of this place. Streatham cop shop two doors down probably helps keep it quiet and safe, the prices busier than it deserves. If you've crashed the Ten Steps and need to get peacefully, cheaply and unmolestedly pickled then look no further.
