Proving that renovation isn't necessary a bad thing, this one has benefited tremendously from coming under the wing of the Gottos, the farming couple who own The Ship and The Alma in Wandsworth and The Coopers Arms in Chelsea. It's a smart affair, sharing the same colour scheme as The Coopers and the professional air of all the Gotto pubs. We also like how the small dining space at the back separates off the diners from the rest of the pub (though given the positioning of the big screen TV that probably intrudes on the diners). No complaints on the drinks side of things (the Young's certainly tasted good) nor with the fine, harmonious feel. Not sure if the pub's upright piano or footy table see much action mind you, but as smart, upmarket pubs go this one does the job.
