picture of The Lords Tavern Bar and BrasserieThis pub is in its third incarnation: historically it was part of Lord's cricket ground and was accessed from inside or outside the ground; then it became a reasonable cricket-themed boozer only accessible from outside; now it has had a 21st century makeover and is... like any other trendy pub in the world. The beer is good and well kept, and the heated terrace at the front is a nice touch, but the owners have missed the point - people drinking next to the Grace Gates of Lord's are there to watch or talk about cricket, not to eat overpriced bistro food. Admittedly there are still cricketer's photos on the walls and the décor has nice cricket-related touches (ball and stumps adorn the top of the dividing walls near the entrance, for example), but you would never know you are within metres of the spiritual home of cricket. (New photo to come).
