how to find it:

Rather sneakily, Highgate tube is a fair walk from Highgate Village. It should take about 15 mins to get from one to the other. Leave Highgate tube by the 'car park' exit so you're on the Archway Road. Cross the road and walk up Jacksons Lane till it meets Southwood Lane. Keep on Southwood Lane until you reach Highgate High Street. The pub is across the road from you. Alternatively walk (or catch the bus) up Highgate Hill from Archway. The pub is at the top of the hill in the heart of the village on the left, before the roundabout.

picture of Prince of WalesThe Flask seems to get all the attention round these parts, though we're not complaining as it usually means more space in this one. The olde worlde interior may not be as rambling as The Flask's, but it's certainly on the right side of cosy. Plenty of beers on tap and the menu is of Thai and Laos origin - the it promises a good Sunday Roast as well. The sort of villagey pub you'd expect in this villagey part of London, it's a fine local with a well-loved feel to the place. A small terrace at the back opens out onto where the old ponds used to be: shame they're not still there, though if they were the pub would be almost too good to be true.
