Greene King belatedly got in on the act of smartening up its old boozers and some of the earlier refurbishments we know just didn't quite work, comparing unfavourably to rivals M&B. Thankfully, the Trinity gets things a bit better. It's certainly contemporary here now, but there's a nice cosy section the back, whilst the walls are either covered in attractive Chinese-style bird-related wallpaper, or painted wood panelling. The front is a little less welcoming, but the overall effect is pleasing enough. Service is spot on and the trio of ales better than the average Greene King IPA you usually see. Food doesn't over extend itself, giving a selection of good pubby food at reasonable prices; this isn't a gastropub, despite appearances. Overall, a commendable effort and while we can think of several better pubs in Borough, The Trinity, when relatively quiet, is a handy place to meet friends before moving on.
