In the summer of 1944, a German V1 bomb put the Paxton Arms out of business. It was, however, eventually rebuilt and the pub reopened in 1955. Today, however, the place could use a coat of paint to brighten up its weather-beaten exterior. Inside, the pub has an old-fashioned feel to it, where the bar serves two adjoining rooms. It's a convenient enough place to meet someone near Crystal Palace station, but still a dyed-in-the-wool locals' pub.
