picture of The Bulls HeadIt's been gone a few years now, but we still have found memories of the sticky floored boozer this once was. Probably such a thing was thought uncouth for such a prime site and after a sprucing up it became a Chef & Brewer pub. And so it remains, and try as we like, we just can't warm to the place. The wide range of real ales certainly appeals but a good pub needs more than that. It's olde worlde but overly so: like many other Chef & Brewer pubs, it's a slight air of artificiality that takes hold. This one seems geared more for punters after food rather stopping in for a drink and a chat. It's a perfectly pleasant enough pub, but we've tried and we just can't find this one's heart and soul. Jazz nights on Sunday evenings though.
