picture of Duke of YorkBilling itself as "the village pub with the big welcome", this pub lives up to its billing. As soon as you walk in every head turns towards you to check you out and after a while it dawns on you that the "village" is situated somewhere in the valleys. Almost everyone in the place is Welsh (and male) and you are surrounded by photos of men in red rugby shirts and display cases containing a few of those shirts. The beer on offer is pretty ordinary (and not Welsh) , the food pretty cheap and the service is OK, but like many village pubs, if you're not from the village, you'll probably feel more welcome elsewhere.
