how to find it:

Waterloo: come out of the tube station and head all the way down to platform one. Opposite is an exit out of the station and the Jubilee Line. Exit the station, turn right walk for fifty yards and it is on your right. Southwark, turn right out of the station and walk along the Cut. When you get to the junction with Waterloo Road, you'll soon see the pub ahead of you, on your right.

picture of Fire StationFunnily enough located in a converted fire station next to one of the exits of Waterloo Station, this is a phenomenally busy bar popular with post-work commuters - don't come here if its a seat you're after. Due to the nature of the conversion, its hardly a cosy place and the acoustics mean shouting is sometimes necessary. There is also some seating outside if you want some to take in some of London's finest roadside Carbon Monoxide. The service is OK, considering the number of people they have to cope with and they have an (emptier) separate restaurant section if that's what you want. Prices are a little over the top though, even for such a prime location, so be prepared to discover that the £10 note you're optimistically holding might not be enough. Ostensibly you could do worse than stop here for a quick pint, if your train is delayed/cancelled but there are numerous, significantly better places a short hop, skip and jump away.
