picture of The RingThe Ring has moved with the times, evolving from an old-fashioned boozer into something more in tune with modern tastes. Following a recentish refit, it now attracts a smart young crowd of local workers who enjoy the laid-back music and relaxed atmosphere. A link with tradition is maintained in the hundreds of framed boxing photographs which adorn the walls, although their spotless condition feels a little antiseptic. On our visit, Pride and Greene King IPA were the ales on the hand pumps, amongst several lagers on tap. Nowadays, the only claret you'll see spilt here comes out of a bottle.
