A visit to this pub provided us with a couple of firsts - it's the first pub we've been to which has a resident chess team (complete with their own noticeboard) and it's probably the first we've seen which sells bottles of mustard over the counter (God knows why). Attentive staff serve cheap, well-kept Young's beer to a mixed clientele, and the atmosphere is good as well. What with this and the Windsor Castle across the road, this area is well worth a visit for a few swift halves whilst escaping the Oxford Street crowds.
