how to find it:
Leave Angel Station and turn left and left again down City Road. Take the right fork down Goswell Road and walk for a few minutes. You should see the pub on your left at the second junction on the left.

Sat in the shadow of a smattering of City Road tower blocks, this is a bit of a dreary local. The exterior is rather nice, with leaded windows and original tiling, but the large interior is sparse and ugly. It's got a pool table, karaoke and very friendly service, but seems to be finding life a little too hard. If nothing else it was eerie and depressing to see a small hand-written notice pinned to a blackboard trying to organise a local pool team. Nothing wrong with that, except we wondered how long its been there, considering it made reference to the pub's old name, the Oakley Arms, not used since 1999. Very quiet during the week, maybe things pick up on a Friday night.
