picture of The GeorgeWe remember this one as a rather ordinary John Barras owned pub with a leaky roof and a penchant for showing sport. The new-look George has kept the big screen for the football and also slotted in a pool table, but the rest mostly abides by the rules of the Lounge pub makeover. So you get an hourly airing of David Gray on the stereo, a pub grub menu tilting towards gastro tastes and prices and a roomful of leather sofas and armchairs (butcher block tables and chairs are so last year). It's all in keeping with the gentrification of the area, which may also explain why you're expected to pay three pound for a pint of Kronenbourg (either that or those 'World of Leather' bills were pricier than expected).
