Don't go looking for anything original here (after all, this is a street with two Starbucks on it) as this is an unspectacular Nicholson's pub. The main bar always feels on the small side, whether that's due to the giant screen at the back of the pub dwarfing things or the pub's magnetic pull on commuters and tourists heading to and from Embankment tube. Upstairs, there's a slightly less frenetic air, with a dining area with traditional pub grub served. This one does a job but it's like many pubs in Central London in that it doesn't have to do much to pull in the crowds - you suspect that even if standards at this one decreased it would still be packed solid.
