how to find it:
From Holland Park: Turn left after you leave the station and the pub is about 5 minutes up on the left. From Notting Hill Gate: Take the Portobello Market exit and cross the road at the lights. Proceed down Notting Hill Gate until it becomes Holland Park Avenue. The pub should be about 5 minutes down on the right.

Well, this was a cavernous pub a little bit further out of Notting Hill which has gone through a number of changes over the years. But now it's nailed its gastro colours to the mast, now describing itself as a "Bar and Dining Room", and pulls no punches, aiming to out-gastro any competition in the neighbourhood. The menu looks fine, but it's not cheap. And, while it's got a couple of beers on the bar, the focus is more on its lagers. The changed focus from pub to eaterie has made the drinking side of things suffer a little - you really get the impression that people are coming here for a meal rather than a drink.
