picture of The CardinalWe like this place - it's a very comfortable Sam Smith's pub almost right next to Westminster Cathedral, well actually in the very shadow of that venerable London landmark. Its proximity to the cathedral means that the walls are covered in portraits of Popes, Cardinals and various other papist royalty. We've yet to see any of the neighbours in here, but it does attract a regular following. As is usual for Sam Smith's, there is little or nothing else on offer than their own beers - if you want something else, we're afraid you're stuffed. It has an extensive menu, with good, inexpensive food, and a lovely Victorian interior. This one is definitely worth a look if you're in the area, and it is open at weekends too. Give this one a go before mass, if nothing else - not that we recommend going to mass pissed (though it might make it go a bit more quickly).
