April's top ten pubs
"Top Ten Thursday" is the first Thursday of every month, when we all get together to vote for our top ten pubs. These are pubs we have recently visited and for one reason or another, maybe it was the ambience, the booze, or the company, these pubs have stuck in our memory.
We enjoyed them so much we thought you'd like to know about them, so here they are - there's no particular order of merit, they're all good pubs.
- Jerusalem Tavern
(Farringdon, London)... One of a kind - with excellent own-brewed beers. - Betsey Trotwood
(Clerkenwell, London)... A fine Shepherd Neame pub. - Cock Tavern
(Smithfield, London)... Vegetarians look away now. - Golden Eagle
(Marylebone, London)... A jolly time to be had by all in this tiny, tiny pub. - Prince Arthur
(Euston, London)... Breaking the rule that states pubs next to stations must be universally awful. - Sekforde Arms
(Clerkenwell, London)... A hidden away, traditional local. - The Dovetail Bar
(Clerkenwell, London)... Antwerp in Clerkenwell, how did that happen? - The Old Doctor Butler's Head
(London Wall, London)... Old Dr. Butler would have had a fine old time in here. - The Water Poet
(Spitalfields, London)... The antithesis of the smart bar - and all the better for it. - The Greenwich Union
(Greenwich, London)... Another own-brew pub that shows the big boys how it should be done.
