your pub picture on Fancyapint.com

Pub photos are an important component in a Fancyapint.com review. Not only do the pictures allow people to form a better opinion of a pub, they also aid finding the pub when they decide to visit. For these reasons we spend a lot of time and effort taking them and publishing them on the site.

We endeavour to get the best possible picture in the circumstances - refuse bags, building work, tourists, white vans, street furniture and the British weather notwithstanding - but, inevitably, pictures will get out of date as pubs are repainted and hanging baskets wither and die. When we know things have changed you will see the words "(new picture to come") appended to the review and we will try and get back to the pub to take a new piciture as soon as we can. But we will still keep the old picture in the review - unless the pub has been knocked down and rebuilt it will still help newcomers find the pub when they visit for the first time.

However, when things do change for a pub, we are often sent new pictures, by landlords, managers publicans, pub-owners, PR companies and sometimes even by the clientele - we cannot use these pictures.

All the pub pictures we publish on Fancyapint.com are taken by our reviewers and, as such, Fancyapint Ltd has the right to use these pictures in all its activities. This is extremely unlikely to be the case for pictures sent into us. With every picture we receive we would have to have a licence for use, duly authorised by the copyright owner and this licence would have to confer on us the ability to edit it and use it where we please (and to make money from it too). In addition, if the picture is of a pub interior we would also have to have assurances that these were taken with the owner's permission and if it also showed people, that any identifiable person in the picture had consented to the photograph and had waived any rights to the image. This obviously would take a lot of of our time and effort to administer (and it could still pose a legal risk if something had been missed). So for this reason we do not use pictures not taken by anyone outisde of the Fancyapint? team - please do not send us your pictures.

Do please let us know if things have changed (you can keep us up-to-date with any changes using this form) and we will try and get round to your pub as soon as is practicable. Obviously outlying pubs are more difficult for us to get to, but we do mount photo-safaris every now and then.

Thanks for your understanding.
