Master Gunner
RIP: Master Gunner

Our final review:
“This pub is almost the last working remnant of the Paternoster Square disaster (there are a few shops on the other side of the block). Its tatty exterior hints at a probably short life expectancy, yet it still clings on. It’s yet another feeble attempt to gentrify a tactless pile of concrete - wooden tables and chairs and a few knick-knacks of pseudo-military faux-antique origin. The staff are friendly and serve the usual Youngs stuff. Food is a bit iffy. Prices reflect it’s prime tourist location.”

So, what’s become of it?
The pub disappeared with the rest of the Paternoster Square development, when it was demolished. The new Paternoster is roughly in the location the Master Gunner once was. If you still have a nostalgic affection for the old Master Gunner, you can get a glimpse of where it was in Robbie William’s “Angels” video (you can always turn the sound down).
Do you know more?
