Intrepid Fox

RIP: Intrepid Fox

Our final review:
“Soho’s a lot safer place than it used to be, with Westminster Council cleaning everything up in pursuit of the tourist dollar and it seems like the Intrepid Fox has joined in the effort. The edge has been blunted somewhat, you no longer feel challenged if you’re out of uniform and the music, clientele and ambience feel a little too “clean” nowadays. A pity really, we used to like to alarm our unsuspecting mates by arranging to meet in here. The booze was never particularly remarkable, that was never the point of the place, but it’s the one thing that hasn’t changed. If you’re looking for a grittier experience you’ll be better off in Camden or consulting your knowledgeable metal-headed friends.Footnote: until a recent visit, we didn’t realise the pub operated a dress code – they won’t serve you if you wear a tie. Does that mean Angus wouldn’t get a pint? Anyway, it’s a pity, because operating a dress code loses a pub a pint in our ratings – we don’t like any form of discrimination.

So, what’s become of it?

Despite a high profile campaign, M&B still sold off this popular and unique pub, the future of the premises uncertain. As of  7/7/2008 the place is still empty. Happily though, the Intrepid Fox has now reopened in a new location, near Tottenham Court Road tube. We’ve donned our blackest clothes, removed our ties and gone to give it a review, which can be found here.

Do you know more?
